Who is eligible for a Homestead Exemption? Income requirements for homeowners 65 and older and those who are permanently and totally disabled: Must not have a total household income over $36,100/year for 2023, or $38,600/year for 2024. This amount is annually adjusted for inflation.
Do NOT include any Social Security benefits as they are not taxable in Ohio. Line 5: If you have filed an Ohio Tax Return, enter previously deducted business income as reported on line 11 of Ohio Schedule A (from line 11 of Ohio IT BUS).
Ohio's Homestead Exemption protects the first $25,000 of your home's value from taxation. For example, if your home is worth $100,000, you will be taxed as if the home were worth $75,000. On average, those who qualify for the exemption save $400 a year.
Owner Occupancy Credit (formerly known as the 2 ½ % Tax Reduction) for Owner-Occupied Home: To receive the owner occupancy credit tax reduction you must: (1) own the home, (2) occupy the home as your principal place of residence and (3) apply with the County Auditor between January 1st and the first Monday in June.
For your convenience, Fulton County taxpayers may file application for homestead exemption through our online portal. For all property owners who occupy the property as of January 1 of the application year. No income or age limit. Includes $30,000 off the assessed value on County, $2,000 off school.
Line 4: Enter income from any other sources not included above (income reported on Form(s) 1099-MISC, self-employment income, business income). Do NOT include any Social Security benefits as they are not taxable in Ohio.
To apply, complete the application form (DTE 105A, Homestead Exemption Application Form for Senior Citizens, Disabled Persons, and Surviving Spouses), then file it with your local county auditor. The form is available on the Department of Taxation's website and is also available from county auditors.
