It is at minimum a two-year process which includes planning, writing the charter application, finding a facility, and completing all the tasks necessary to open the school. The Arizona State Board for Charter Schools requires charter applicants to submit a completed charter application in June of each year.
Children between the ages of six (6) and sixteen (16) are required by AZ law to attend school. Children are allowed to miss eighteen (18) days of school. That's a combination of excused and unexcused absences. Nineteen (19) absences or more is breaking the law.
