For purposes of our programs, a public assistance household is one that has both an SSI applicant or recipient, and at least one other household member who receives one or more of the listed public income maintenance payments. These are payments made under—

SWEP. The Suffolk Works Employment Program (SWEP) helps Temporary Assistance applicants and recipients obtain the skills they need to find employment. Once employed, families can receive help with childcare and other work-related expenses.

EISEP assists older people (aged 60 and older) who need help with everyday activities to take care of themselves (such as dressing, bathing, personal care, shopping, and cooking), want to remain at home, and are not eligible for Medicaid.
