Yes, they do send a letter out. Congratulations on paying off! As someone who worked in collections on their behalf, my advice to everyone is to keep these letters safe. Keep a picture or scanned copy.
You may repeat courses taken at MDC if you received a “W,” “U” “D” or “F” grade. You are allowed a total of two attempts at a single course. Third and fourth attempts are granted at the discretion of the department.
You can view your grades by logging into MDConnect. After you login, go to the “other academics….” drop-down list and select “Course History.” Your grades will display on the following page.

The Student Petition Process provides students with a process to request a grade change from D, F, or U to a withdrawal without refund (W grade) or D, F, U or W grade to an administrative withdrawal with a 100% refund due to documented extenuating circumstances.
However, if a student fails a class, or if a program requires a higher grade than the one achieved in a particular class, that class may be repeated and certified again. If a course is required for graduation, a student may repeat the course and be certified for that course until it is successfully completed.

Minimum/Maximum Credits Undergraduate students are expected to take a minimum of 15 credits and may enroll in up to 19 credits.
