Gillespie is the first Black Probate Judge in Broward County. Judge Gillespie was first appointed as a Circuit Judge to the 17th Judicial Circuit in 2009, and was re-elected in 2010 and 2016. He previously served in the Dependency/Unified Family Court Division of the 17th Judicial Circuit.
