While DD Form 214 is designated for active duty service, NGB Form 22 is meant for those who served in the Army National Guard. The NGB Form 22 is the National Guard equivalent of the DD Form 214 and is proof of service for California Army National Guard service members.

The DD Form 214 is issued to Soldiers who are released from active duty (90 or more days) or awarded an MOS/AOC, and processed through a transition point; the DD Form 215 is issued to correct administrative data on previously issued DD Forms 214.

NGB Form 22 will confirm your character of service at the time of your discharge, while the NGB Form 23 will verify your total time as “active duty.”
