Most new drivers in Virginia dread their road test, also known as the road skills test – and it can be extremely nerve-wracking. But with the proper preparation, you can make the experience far less stressful. One of the best things to do to prepare for your test is to find out what to expect.
All Teenagers (under 18) are required by the Virginia DMV to complete the Behind the Wheel road skills test to get their Driver's License. There are 7 appointments total, each lasting at least 1 hour and 40 minutes.
As soon as a cancellation occurs, driving test slots that were previously booked for a later date become available.
Using driving test cancellation apps If you don't have the time or patience to search for cancelled driving tests manually, there are some apps that can do this for you. Usually, you'll book your driving test through the DVSA and then sign up to an app that scans test centres for suitable rescheduling slots.
The program consists of 36 fifty-minute classroom periods of instructions and 14 fifty-minute periods in-car instructions (7 periods of driving and 7 periods of observation, including the final road skills examination).

Cancel your driving or riding test if you no longer need your appointment. You can cancel your test up to the time your test starts. You must give at least 3 full working days' notice to get a full refund.
Please make an appointment for service on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays or walk in without an appointment on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays (in offices with Saturday hours). However, you may be able to start the process online by determining the documents that you will need to bring and pre-filling your application.
