The right size for DTF transfers on shirts is quite important for achieving high quality. For adult shirts, a common size range for chest prints is 10″-12″ wide, ensuring the design is proportionate to the garment size.
HOW LONG WILL HEAT TRANSFERS LAST? With proper care of your garment (wash inside out on a cool wash, dry inside out on a washing line and iron inside out - no tumble drying or dry cleaning) the manufacturer recommends around 50 washes for the vinyl heat transfers, which do eventually crack and fade.
If printing on adult size shirts, the standard size is 11” x 11” (or 11” wide by proportionate height). This will look good on almost any adult size. For printing on youth sizes, a good design size is about 9” x 9”.
I agree that a swing-away heat press is a good choice, especially for the versatility it offers. A 15 x 15 size should work well for most projects, especially T-shirts. As for the all-in-one presses, they can be convenient if you're planning to work with a variety of items like hats and mugs.
For a bolder look, size up to 2.5” x 14”. Full Front: Adult shirt standard size is 11” x 11”, Youth 9” x 9”, and a general size for mixed orders around 10 to 10.5”. Left Chest: Typically around 4.5” x 4.5”, with pocket prints being smaller at about 3.5” x 3.5”. Short Sleeves: Standard size is 3” x 3”.

100 percent cotton requires the highest temperature, which is around 380 degrees Fahrenheit. Polyester responds to a more delicate 270, so be careful with it! Many types of fabrics take well to the heat transfer between 315 and 350, but if you're not sure, consult your heat press machine's manual.
You can combine puff transfers with full-color DTF transfers for truly spectacular results, giving you the best of both worlds: intricate, full-color designs with eye-catching raised elements.
Set your iron or heat press to 320°F or 160°C. You can go up to 340°F if you want more puffy result. Place the vinyl design onto your garment at the desired location. Using HIGH PRESSURE (Very Important), heat and press the puff heat transfer vinyl design for ten seconds.
Lay It Flat Our screen printed heat transfers are printed on paper, so we recommend storing the transfers flat. Some of our customers love storing them in Ikea shelves, or in wire racks. Whichever way looks best for you, we recommend stacking transfer no more than 100-200 high.
