An injunction gives the party that filed the motion temporary relief from the same action or activity that they're asking the court to halt as part of their larger case.
A motion to dismiss is typically filed by a defendant to a lawsuit and requests that the court "get rid of " the complaint or lawsuit. A motion to dissolve speaks to a request to the court to end something.
Permanent injunctions are issued as a final judgment in a case, where monetary damages will not suffice. Failure to comply with an injunction may result in being held in contempt of court, which in turn may result in either criminal or civil liability.
The purpose of a motion to dissolve an injunction is “to provide a means to show changed circumstances or changes in the law that require modification or dissolution of the injunction; the purpose is not to give an unsuccessful party an opportunity to relitigate the propriety of the original grant.”
