To get a no contact order, a person must file a claim with their local court — and often, they will have to go before a judge. When filing a complaint, the petitioner must file in their own jurisdiction or the jurisdiction of the assailant.
At the courthouse, tell the clerk of court that you want to file a petition for a protection from abuse order. If you are in immediate danger, tell the clerk you also want an emergency (ex parte) order. The clerk will give you the forms. Examples: “I am asking the court to grant me a _____ month/year injunction.” “I want no contact in person, at home, by phone, at work, by mail or through third parties.” “I would consider any contact in the future to be a violation.” Tell the court why you would like the temporary restraining order injunction.
Obtain a petition for a protective order from either the Montgomery County District Court Clerk or you can visit the court form search. File the petition with a Circuit or District Court clerk during normal business hours. You will be directed to a courtroom as soon as a judge is available to hear your case.

Using the facts of the incident only, keep your statement brief and to the point. Briefly describe the most recent incident of abuse and/or threats of abuse or other behaviors. Focus on the actual behavior. Do not include prior incidents, (that will be the next paragraph).
