If a hearing is requested, both parties must be present. "Non-emergency" PPOs will require a hearing in front of the circuit court judge before the PPO will be issued. At this hearing, the judge will listen to testimony by witnesses regarding what has happened that necessitates a PPO.
What is a Personal Protection Order and how does it work? ​A Personal Protection Order, or PPO, is an order issued by the Judicial Circuit Court.
Emergency injunctions are legal pleas for the court to take action to preserve the status quo while the legal process is underway. The idea is that unless the court intervenes, irreparable harm will be done.
File your motion in the court that issued the PPO. There will be a court hearing where you and the Petitioner will each get a chance to tell your side of the story. At the hearing the judge will decide whether to continue, change, or end the PPO.
The jurisdiction for PPOs fall under the Family Division of the Circuit Court.
Can you look up a PPO in Michigan? PPOs are public records recorded in the Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN). However, you would have difficulty finding evidence of a Personal Protection Order online.
