Am I Eligible? Be at least 18 years of age. Be able to read and write; not have served as a juror for six days during the preceding three months in the county court or during the preceding six months in the district court; and. not have been convicted of, or be under indictment or other legal accusation for, misdemeanor theft or a felony.

A prospective juror may be excused if he/she: Has a physical or mental disability that would prevent him/her from serving. Must provide actual and necessary care for another and alternate arrangements are not feasible. Is unable to read or understand the English language. Over 75 years of age.

EXEMPTIONS FROM JURY SERVICE (Texas G.C., Section 62.106) 1. You are over 70 years of age. 2. You have legal custody of a child or children younger than 12 years of age and service on the jury would require leaving the child or children without adequate supervision.

You may claim a medical exemption if you have a severe physical or mental condition that makes it impossible for you to serve as a juror, even with reasonable accommodation. To claim a medical exemption, you must present a copy of this form signed by a physician.

A person who receives a summons for jury service and fails to answer the summons as directed by the summons, is subject to a contempt action that is punishable by a fine of not less than $100 nor more than $1,000. (Texas Gov't Code § 62.0141.
