The District Clerk is elected for a four year term and manages most of the business operations for the 28 elected Courts and 22 associate judges and magistrates (50 total) in Tarrant County that hear Civil, Family and Felony Criminal cases.

The Criminal Investigations Division or (CID) is responsible for investigating crimes to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to file a case with the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office. The CID Division is led by the CID Commander Captain Jason Henninger.
