The Ohio Ethics Law was created to ensure that public officials and employees are not influenced by such direct conflicts. It also helps protect the public from biased, rather than objective decision-making.
A citizen may also file a sworn complaint by submitting a sworn affidavit alleging facts that support a specific violation of the Ethics Law. However, Commission rules require that the affiant demonstrate specific personal knowledge of all of the facts and evidence that support each element of a violation.
What to Include with the Complaint Form. A written Statement of Complaint that contains the information and facts on which the complaint is based (see details below). A list of Code of Ethics or Assistants Code of Conduct sections you believe, in good faith, that the Respondent violated.
If you believe you have personal knowledge of an ethics violation please contact the OLIG at 614-728-5100 or via mail at 100 East Broad Street, Suite 1910, Columbus, OH 43215.
