Requirements. To sit for the Utah Bar Exam, you must have a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an American Bar Association (ABA)-accredited law school. You must also be a US citizen, a permanent resident, or otherwise authorized to work in the US. Additionally, all applicants must pass a character and fitness evaluation.
The maximum possible scaled score on each component of the test is 200 points. The MBE scaled score and the written scaled score are added together, resulting in a total combined scaled score or UBE score. An Applicant must receive a total combined scaled score of 260 to pass the Utah Bar Examination.

All Applicants are required to receive a scaled score of 86 on the MPRE before admission. Applicants who do not have the required score on the MPRE must retake the exam and submit the passing score to Utah.
