Personal service is the most common method of serving divorce papers. This process involves handing the papers directly to your spouse. In most cases, the person serving your spouse with the papers must be over the age of 18 and not a party in the divorce.
Example: A marriage license issued at 3pm on May 14th. The parties may be married any time after 6am on May 16th. The license will expire 6 months after the waiting period. Age restrictions apply.
Only one person needs to be present to apply for a marriage license. You will need each person's full legal name, address, age, state and county of birth, and social security number. You will need the birth certificates or other official documentation for each person to demonstrate their age.
Neither a blood test nor witnesses are required in Maryland.
License The marriage license must be obtained at least 72 hours prior to the wedding. The 72 hour waiting period requirement may only be waived by a District or County Court at Law Judge, the County Judge or for an applicant who is on active military duty. The marriage license is valid for up to 90 days after issuance.
To apply for an Iowa marriage license, both parties and a witness (18 or older and knows both parties) must sign an application in the presence of a notary. A copy of the application can be picked up at the Recorder's Office. It is not available online; contact us and we would be happy to send you one.
