FAQ

An Affidavit of Intent stating that the child is attending homeschool must be filed with the county school superintendent. The Affidavit of Intent shall include the child's legal name, date of birth, and the names, telephone numbers, and addresses of the persons who currently have legal custody of the child.

Information to Include in a Letter of Intent Child's address and address of homeschool if different. Child's birth date. The grade the child would be entering if they were in school. A simple statement saying that the child will be homeschooled for the following school year and who will be giving the instruction.

Registration Requirements If a child will attend a homeschool, the parent or person with custody of the child must submit a notarized affidavit and proof of the child's identity with the Office of County School Superintendent.

Much like private school diplomas, homeschool diplomas generally state that the homeschool has “conferred” the diploma on the student, or that the student “has completed the course of study prescribed by” the homeschool. Make sure the words “high school” appear somewhere on the diploma.

You must submit a notarized affidavit of your intent to homeschool to the superintendent's office of the student's home county school district. If you end your period of homeschooling you must notify your superintendent's office within 30 days of enrolling in another school (unless your student has graduated).
