If you have a joint sponsor, they must also complete Form I-864. Joint sponsor means additional support for the main sponsor of an intending immigrant. The joint sponsor doesn't have to be related to the main sponsor or the intending immigrant. However, he or she must be a lawful permanent resident, U.S. citizen, or U.S. national at least eighteen years old.
