If you make a mistake, cross it out. Don't use correction fluid. If you make more than 3 mistakes on any line or don't provide a clear signature in sections 6 or 9, you will need to fill out a new form.

Routine processing is 4 to 6 weeks and expedited processing is 2 to 3 weeks. Mailing times are not included in processing times. An emergency passport is valid for one year or less, and is for U.S. citizens who must return to the United States as soon as possible from a foreign country.
