The Ragging is defined as any disorderly conduct, whether by words spoken or written or by an act, has the effect of teasing, treating, or handling with rudeness a fresher or a junior student.
It is mandatory as per Hon. Supreme Court & UGC regulation that all students fill in Anti-Ragging Undertaking, each year.
Ragging involves abuse, humiliation, or harassment of new entrants or junior students by the senior students. It often takes a malignant form wherein the newcomers may be subjected to psychological or physical torture.
Definition of Ragging. Under laws in India, ragging is defined as. (i) AnV disorderly conduct by either by acts or words spoken, the effect of which is teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student; (ii) Any rowdy or undisciplined activity, which causes annoyance, hardship or psychologicai.
PUNISHMENT(S) IN THE EVENT OF RAGGING The following punishments be awarded as per the AP Anti-Ragging Act, 1997 under sections4(i) to 4(v): 4(i) Teases or embarrasses or humiliates a student shall be punished with imprisonment for a period of six months or with a fine of Rs. 1000/- or with both.
