Ohio Entry of Appearance is a legal document filed in Ohio courts by a lawyer to indicate that they will be representing a party in a case. It is the initial step in the process of becoming a party's attorney and is necessary for the lawyer to be recognized by the court. There are two types of Ohio Entry of Appearance: Limited Entry of Appearance and General Entry of Appearance. Limited Entry of Appearance is used when a lawyer is representing a party in a single case, whereas General Entry of Appearance is used when a lawyer plans to represent the same party in multiple cases. Upon submission of the Ohio Entry of Appearance, the court will provide the lawyer with a notice of their acceptance and will recognize them as the attorney of record for the party.
