No witnesses are required. The judge does request that no flash cameras be used during the actual exchanging of the vows, and that all attendees are made aware that while weddings are rightfully a joyous occasion, appropriate behavior is expected.
Section 2.202 of the Texas Family Code authorizes the following people to conduct a marriage ceremony: a licensed or ordained Christian minister or priest. a Jewish rabbi. an officer of a religious organization authorized to conduct marriage ceremonies.
There is a required 3-day waiting period between the time a marriage license is obtained and the ceremony (Texas Family Code, Chapter 2, Section 2.204 ).
Notaries can perform a wedding ceremony if you live in the states of Florida, Maine, Nevada, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Montana. If you're not in these six states, notaries cannot legally marry you without taking extra steps.
