An individual or a business entity must file a fictitious business name (FBN) statement with the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's office in the county where the business will be located when the name of the business does not include the owner's last name.
The City of Sacramento does not issue a business license. All businesses that operate in the City of Sacramento or do business with the City of Sacramento must pay a business operation tax. Follow the steps below to apply for your business operation tax account.
Fictitious business names can be filed online on the LA County County Clerk's fictitious name portal. Or, copies of the forms can be mailed to you by calling (800) 201-8999 or obtained in person at the County Clerk's office.
