Create the data validation list in cells A1:A4. Select cell E4. Choose Data Validation from the Data ribbon menu. Choose List from the Allow option's drop down list. Click the Source control box and drag the cursor to highlight the cells A1:A4. Make sure the In-cell dropdown option is checked.

Click the left mouse button on the first item, hold the mouse button, move the cursor to the last item and then release the mouse button. You can also use both SHIFT and CTRL keys together.

To add a custom field into the body of your email, click + Text Field, add in the field name, and press OK to insert. To add a drop down menu, click the +Dropdown button, fill in the field and menu options, and press OK.

Select the entire column you want to validate. Click on "Data Validation" from the Data tab. Choose "List" from the "Allow" box. Click on the arrow to the right of the "Source" box and select the cells containing the allowed values.

Select the cells that you want to contain the lists. On the ribbon, click DATA > Data Validation. In the dialog, set Allow to List. Click in Source, type the text or numbers (separated by commas, for a comma-delimited list) that you want in your drop-down list, and click OK.

Select the cell for your drop down list. Go to the Data tab then click on Data Validation to open the Data Validation dialogue box. In the Settings tab, select List under Allow. Click on the Source field. Click OK. (Image credit: Michelle Rae Uy)

Select the cell or range of cells where you want the drop-down list to appear (C2 in this example). Go to Data > Data Tools > Data Validation. In the Data Validation dialogue box, within the settings tab, select 'List' as Validation Criteria.

In Form Layout view, select the Design tab, then locate the Controls group. Select the Combo Box command, which looks like a drop-down list. Select the desired location for the combo box. The Combo Box Wizard dialog box will appear. Type the choices you want to appear in your drop-down list.

Use List Box to create a drop down list with multiple checkboxes. Click Developer > Insert > List Box (Active X Control). Select the cell E4, enter ListBoxOutput into the Name Box and press the Enter key. Click Insert > Shapes > Rectangle. In the Assign Macro dialog box, click the New button.

On the form template, place the cursor where you want to insert the control. If the Controls task pane is not visible, click More Controls on the Insert menu, or press ALT+I, C. In the Controls task pane, do one of the following: Under Insert controls, click Multiple-Selection List Box.
