Ctrl + ; shortcut inserts the today date in a cell. Ctrl + Shift + ; shortcut inserts the current time. To enter the current date and time, press Ctrl + ; then press the Space key, and then Ctrl + Shift + ;.

Select the cells you want to format. Press CTRL+1. In the Format Cells box, click the Number tab. In the Category list, click Date, and then choose a date format you want in Type.

=WEEKDAY(serial_number, [return_type]) The serial number is a sequential number representing the given date for which you want to find the day of the week. The date can be entered directly into the formula or referenced from a cell. The second argument Excel recognizes, the return_type, is optional.

Format 3: ddd mmm yyyy The dates are shown in the format ddd mmm yyyy. The day and the month are displayed in their short notations in this format. From the ?Custom? option of the ?Number? tab, select ?dddd mmmm yyyy? under ?Type.? Click ?Ok.?

CHOOSE function Identify where your WEEKDAY function originates (A2 for this example). Click on the blank cell where you want the day displayed. Type this formula: = Choose (Weekday(A2), "Sunday,", "Monday," "Tuesday," "Wednesday," "Thursday," "Friday," "Saturday"). Hit the Enter or Return key to get your result.

Format cells to show dates as the day of the week Under Category, click Custom, and in the Type box, type dddd for the full name of the day of the week (Monday, Tuesday, and so on), or ddd for the abbreviated name of the day of the week (Mon, Tue, Wed, and so on).

The method to use this function is as follows =TODAY(). For example, suppose TODAY() returns the current date, e.g., 10-10-2020. Then, to add 7 days to today's date, we can use the formula =TODAY()+7, which returns the result as 17-10-2020.
