Tell your bank/credit card provider/loan company of your change of address. Inform both your life insurer and your car insurance provider of your new address, but make sure your car insurance details aren't scheduled to change until the day you move in.

Get a moving checklist. The moment you know you're moving, you should grab a moving checklist. Take inventory. Purge your belongings. Find a moving company. Items in storage. Out-of-season clothes. China and other rarely used dishes. Artwork, wall hangings, and picture frames.

Go to USPS.com/move to change your address online. This is the fastest and easiest way, and you immediately get an email confirming the change. Go to your local post office and request a Mover/s Guide packet. Inside the packet is PS Form 3575.
