Labels, like mentions and lozenges, are a way of visually tagging UI objects for quick recognition and navigation. They are used in taxonomies (tags) to provide an ad-hoc, user-generated scheme for classification and searching, or in multi-select controls to indicate already locked-in elements.

Labels are die-cut plastics, papers, metals, or other materials that can be affixed to containers or surfaces. Labels carry information, and they may be created specifically for that type of surface. We sort of like these. Tags are labels without adhesive.

The <label> tag is used to specify a label for an <input> element of a form. It adds a label to a form control such as text, email, password, textarea etc. It toggles the control when a user clicks on a text within the <label> element.

The <label> tag is just that, while the p tag is just a text dump. This not only makes the HTML easier to understand, but also makes it easier to style: instead of creating a classed <p>, you can simply target <label> in the CSS.

Firstly, use <label> tag by providing the <input> and id attribute. The <label> tag needs a for attribute whose value is the same as input id. Alternatively, <input> tag use directly inside the <label> tag. In this case, the for and id attributes are not needed because the association is implicit.

I think of labelling as descriptions of the dataset as a whole. Tagging as the calling out of specific attributes of the dataset and annotations as pointing out specific features within a dataset. Here is a dataset labelled ?Car 106 5/30/2020? it is tagged, highway, sunny, light traffic, road construction.

A tag is usually attached to the item or person in a manner that it will hang off. Example: A price tag hangs off the sweater sleeve. A label will go over the item and it is usually completely attached. Think of a food label, the words are stuck on the item.

Tag labels often contain information about a product. This includes the name of the product's manufacturer, the ingredients used to manufacture the product or its price. Information about how the product must be used (e.g. the temperature at which it should be cooked or washed) can also be found on tag labels.
