In banking and finance, clearing denotes all activities from the time a commitment is made for a transaction until it is settled. This process turns the promise of payment (for example, in the form of a cheque or electronic payment request) into the actual movement of money from one account to another.

Oracle Payments supports the following types of payment methods for automated funds capture processing: bank account transfers. credit cards. PINless debit cards. bills receivable remittances.

Wire. A payment method where you pay invoices outside of Payables by notifying your bank that you want to debit your account and credit your supplier's account with appropriate funds. You provide your bank with your supplier's bank information, and your bank sends you confirmation of your transaction.

When you create a payment outside of Payables, for example, using a typed check or wire transfer, within Payables you can record the payment and update the invoices that you paid. Also use this method to pay invoices with the Clearing payment method.

If receipt or invoice does not indicate payment has been received, then the following are acceptable as proof of payment: Photocopy of a cancelled check (front and back) Credit card sales slip. Monthly credit card statement (all personal information not pertaining to the purchase should be redacted)

Manual payments can be considered any payment in which the vendor has to manually contribute to the process, whether that means taking cash and giving change, taking credit card details over the phone, or offering up an invoice and reconciling the resulting payment.

When you want to create a single payment, rather than an entire payment batch, you either record a manual payment you generated outside of Payables, or you can create a Quick payment (single computer generated payment). You can record zero-amount payments if the disbursement bank account you select allows them.

A document category identifies the database table that stores documents resulting from transactions your users enter. When you assign a sequence to a category, the sequence numbers the documents that are stored in a particular table.
