Two types of watermark have been produced. The more common type, which produces a translucent design when held up to a light, is produced by a wire design laid over and sewn onto the sheet mold wire (for handmade paper) or attached to the ?dandy roll? (for machine-made paper).

If you can't delete a watermark using Remove Watermark, try this: Double-click near the top of the page to open the header area. Click the watermark to select it. Press the Delete key on your keyboard.

Add a DRAFT watermark Choose Design > Watermark. In the Insert Watermark box, select Text, and then choose DRAFT.

First, create your custom watermark. On the Page Layout tab, select Watermark > Custom Watermark. Choose Picture Watermark and select a picture, or choose Text watermark and type your watermark text in the Text box. Click OK.

On the Design tab, select Watermark. In the Insert Watermark dialog, select Text and either type your own watermark text or select one, like DRAFT, from the list. Then, customize the watermark by setting the font, layout, size, colors, and orientation.

Select where you want the watermark to be on the page. Select Design > Watermark > right-click the watermark you want, and select Insert at Current Document Position. The watermark appears as a text box.

If inserting a watermark on some pages causes it to disappear on others, try using a custom watermark to put the watermark on all pages. Tip: If you already have a watermark, remove it, or you'll have two on the same page. Go to Design > Watermark > Custom Watermark.

To add a default text watermark in Word: Click in the Word document. If you are using sections, click in the section in which you want to insert the watermark. Click the Design tab in the Ribbon. In the Page Background group, click Watermark. A drop-down menu appears. Click the watermark you want to use.

Word for Windows or Word Online: Go to the Design tab and select Watermark > Remove Watermark. Word for Mac: Select the Design tab. In the Page Background group, choose Watermark. Select No Watermark.

It is possible that your text is in a shape or a table that has a white background that blocks the watermark. Watermarks are images that are in the header. The header acts like a base layer for your text. If there is something in the text layer that blocks it, you will not see it.
