You have accidentally pinned MD to the top. To remove it, Touch and Hold on MD until you see a sub-minus. Then choose Unpin.

The blue circle with the check next to your message means that your message was sent. A filled-in blue circle next to your message means that your message was delivered. And, when a friend has read your message, a small version of your friend's photo will appear next to your message.

You can remove the Pinned contacts by Touching and Resting your finger on the pinned contact icon (jen1) and that will open up a sub-menu and then you can choose Unpin.
