Bates numbering is a method of indexing legal documents for easy identification and retrieval. Each page of each document is assigned a unique Bates number that also indicates its relationship to other Bates-numbered documents. Bates numbers appear as headers or footers on the pages of each PDF in the batch.

This applies Bates Numbering to each page in your PDF....Add Bates Numbers to a PDF. Open the file. Click Tools. Select Edit PDF. Choose More. Click Bates Numbering and Add. Select Output Options to customize the serial numbers. Click OK.

A unique numeric or alphanumeric identifier attached to individual documents and pages to make each document and page easily identifiable and retrievable. Bates numbers are used in the legal, medical, and business fields.

Bates Numbering (or Bates Stamping) assigns unique identifiers to each page in a collection of documents. It's a way to index document contents so they're easier to find later.

Part 2. How to delete Bates Numbering from PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro X Begin by opening the PDF document that contains the Bates Numbering you'd like to remove. Click on "Tools" and then select "Edit Page and Design". Click on "More > Bates Numbering" and then select "Remove" and the Bates Numbering will be removed.

Select Edit > Insert > Bates Numbering > Remove to permanently remove Bates numbers from currently open files. Other header and/or footer elements, if any, are retained. An information box instructs you how to interpret the results of the operation.

To remove Bates numbers from a PDF file: On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Marks group, click the arrow next to Bates Number and click Remove Bates Numbering. Click OK at the confirmation prompt, and the tool will scan the document and remove all instances of Bates numbering.
