Traditionally, a monogram reads First Name Initial, Last Name Initial, Middle Name or Maiden Name Initial. With the Last Name Initial being the larger Middle Initial. For example, if you had the name Kelsie Elizabeth Vogds, her monogram would read KVE.

Initials are the capital letters which begin each word of a name. For example, if your full name is Michael Dennis Stocks, your initials will be M. D.

Microsoft Word Click "File," then "Open." Go to the folder containing the document and the double-click the file to open it. Select "Ink Tools" from the ribbon and then click "Pens." Usually, we don't include a middle name, but if you already include your middle name in your full name, your initials should be three letters long. For example, if your name is Jamal Cruz, and your initials are JC. If your name is Frank J. Maddison, your initials are FJM.

It serves two main purposes: To confirm that the signer has reviewed and validated every page of the document; To ensure that any of the signing parties does not change the content of the individual pages or does not add a new page after the signature of the document, altering thus its content.

The initials should be in ink and written by your hand. They can be in either print or cursive but should be unique to you. If adding your initials to a small change in a contract, be sure to add them in the margin next to the updated information.
