Certify the record means to state the records are authentic when sending documents constituting the record in a case to a higher court for appellate review. The certification states that the documents make up the actual record of the proceedings.

The RIAA bestows a diamond award upon those songs that have moved at least 10 million equivalent units, combining actual sales and equivalent units comprised of streams. Older tracks typically sell better, while newer ones benefit from non-stop stream activity.

The award levels are Silver (20,000+), Double Silver (40,000+), Gold (75,000+), Double Gold (150,000+), Diamond (200,000+), Platinum (400,000+) and Double Platinum (800,000+).

In the United States, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awards certification based on the number of albums and singles sold through retail and other ancillary markets. Other countries have similar awards (see music recording certification).

Based on MOH's scale of hardness, diamond is rated at 10, whereas platinum falls between 4-4.5. Clearly, diamond is by far much harder compared to platinum.

NBA YoungBoy eclipsed them by securing 13 certifications from the RIAA on February 4. NBA YoungBoy has 71 gold-selling singles and four gold-selling albums in total. He also has 38 platinum-selling songs and five platinum-selling projects. 10 of those tracks have achieved multi-platinum status.

Old Town Road, featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, has become the highest certified song ever by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), reaching 14-times platinum status in the U.S. accumulating 14 million in equivalent song units.

Kanye West has scored a Diamond certified song for the first time in his career, the Recording Industry Association of America has confirmed. A song or album can only be given Diamond certification once they have passed the 10 million sales mark.
