By default, Microsoft Word automatically saves your document every 5 or 10 minutes in case something happens to the computer while working on a document. To change the AutoRecover timing option, select your version of Microsoft Word from the list below and follow the instructions.

Create new documents in your browser Go to Office.com. Click a program tile to start an Microsoft 365 for the web program, such as Word for the web. If you're not already signed in, Sign in or create a Microsoft account. Choose a template to start from, such as New blank document.

By default, AutoRecovery will save your document every 10 minutes; however you do have the option to change the frequency it saves. For Windows Users: Go to File ? Options ? Save. Make sure the AutoRecover box is checked to ensure it is turned on for all your documents.

Go to Word > Preferences. Select Save. In the Save AutoRecover info or AutoSave or AutoRecover info every box, enter how frequently you want the program to save documents.
