An annotation is a note or issue attached to the content of a transcript. Use the transcript viewer to create, edit, reply to, and delete notes as well as apply and remove issues. You can also apply annotations to multiple pages and lines of a transcript at once.

Annotating Strategies Include a key or legend on your paper that indicates what each marking is for, and use a different marking for each type of information. Example: Underline for key points, highlight for vocabulary, and circle for transition points.

How do you annotate? Summarize key points in your own words. Circle key concepts and phrases. Write brief comments and questions in the margins. Use abbreviations and symbols. Highlight/underline. Use comment and highlight features built into pdfs, online/digital textbooks, or other apps and browser add-ons.

An annotation might look like highlighting information information or vocabulary in a text, marking a text with symbols to represent different ideas, creating notes in the margins of a text to keep track of thoughts and questions, or writing summaries at the end of a chapter or section for easy review.

Annotating is any action that deliberately interacts with a text to enhance the reader's understanding of, recall of, and reaction to the text. Sometimes called "close reading," annotating usually involves highlighting or underlining key pieces of text and making notes in the margins of the text.

Audio annotation involves the classification of audio components in a machine-understandable format. Audio annotation is different from audio transcription, where transcription converts the spoken words into written form.

An annotation may include the following information: A brief summary of the source. The source's strengths and weaknesses. Its conclusions. Why the source is relevant in your field of study. Its relationships to other studies in the field. An evaluation of the research methodology (if applicable)

Your transcript should include page numbers, a title, and the date. It's also a good idea to include an abbreviated version of the title and date in a header or footer on the page. You also need to identify the different voices on the recording. You can use the first letter of each person's name or a nickname.

Writing Annotations An annotation is a brief note following each citation listed on an annotated bibliography. The goal is to briefly summarize the source and/or explain why it is important for a topic. They are typically a single concise paragraph, but might be longer if you are summarizing and evaluating.

Edit notes1.In the transcript viewer, click the note that you want to edit. The Annotation dialog box appears.Click the Notes tab and locate the specific note or reply that you want to edit.Click Edit.Change the text and formatting, as necessary.Click Save. The edited note appears on the Notes tab.Click Close.
