The Resolve feature is grayed out under the following conditions: The document was created in or last saved in Word 2010 or an earlier version. The document is in compatibility mode. If the document is in compatibility mode, newer Word features cannot be used.

On the /Insert menu , below Caption should be Bookmark, Cross reference, then Comments. /Insert /Caption will be grayed out until a captionable item is selected. You can enter a comment on each recorded change by placing the cursor in the area of the change and then choosing Edit - Changes - Comment.
