Wisconsin Caption is a form of captioning services that is used to provide access to people who are deaf, deafened, hard of hearing, or have difficulty understanding spoken language. Wisconsin Caption provides real-time, live captioning of events, meetings, and lectures through an operator-assisted teletype (TTY) machine. The captioning is provided by certified captions who are trained in the American Sign Language (ASL). There are two main types of Wisconsin Caption services: on-site and remote. On-site captioning is done in person, while remote captioning is done with the assistance of a TTY machine. Wisconsin Caption also provides additional captioning services such as audio description, CART (Communication Access Real-time Translation) services, and online streaming captioning.
