18 U.S.C. Sec. 2423(A) is a federal statute that criminalizes the transportation of minors with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. The statute applies to any person who transports a minor, or causes the transportation of a minor, across a state line or foreign country with the intent that the minor will engage in a criminal sexual act. The criminal sexual act can include prostitution, production of child pornography, or other sex trafficking-related offenses. The statute also applies even if the transportation itself does not actually take place, and even if the criminal sexual act does not actually occur. The penalty for violating 18 U.S.C. Sec. 2423(A) is up to 15 years in prison.
