The Texas Abstract of Judgment is an official court document ordering the payment of a debt from the debtor to the creditor. It can be issued by any court in the state of Texas. The document contains the date of issuance, the name of the court, the case number, the names of the debtor and creditor, the amount of the debt and any related information. There are two types of Texas Abstract of Judgment: the Regular Abstract of Judgment and the Extended Abstract of Judgment. The Regular Abstract of Judgment is used when the debt is a final judgment and the payment of the debt is not in dispute. The Extended Abstract of Judgment is used when the debt is still being disputed in court or when the debtor has failed to make payments as agreed. The Extended Abstract of Judgment allows the creditor to pursue additional remedies, such as garnishment of wages or seizure of assets, to collect the debt.
