Rhode Island Requests for Information (Request to Inspect and or Copy Documents or Records) is a process by which individuals may request to inspect and/or copy documents or records maintained by state and local government agencies, departments, and authorities in the state of Rhode Island. This process is governed by the Rhode Island Access to Public Records Act (RI PRA). The three types of Rhode Island Requests for Information (Request to Inspect and or Copy Documents or Records) are: 1. Request to Inspect: This type of request allows individuals to inspect and review records or documents in person at the agency or department that maintains them. 2. Request to Copy: This type of request allows individuals to ask the agency or department to make copies of documents or records and provide them to the requester. 3. Request to Both Inspect and Copy: This type of request allows individuals to both inspect and copy the documents or records in question. The process for making a Rhode Island Request for Information (Request to Inspect and or Copy Documents or Records) begins by submitting a written request to the agency or department that maintains the records or documents. The written request must include the requester’s name, address, telephone number, and a brief description of the records or documents sought. The agency or department has 10 business days to respond to the request.
