The Rhode Island Discovery Plan is an individualized learning plan developed by the Rhode Island Department of Education for students with disabilities. It is designed to meet the unique individual needs of students and to ensure that they receive the highest quality of instruction. The plan includes long-term goals, objectives, and strategies that are tailored to each student’s individual needs. It also includes a plan for ongoing monitoring of student progress. There are three types of Rhode Island Discovery Plans: the General Education Discovery Plan (GDP), the Alternate Assessment Discovery Plan (ADP), and the Transition Discovery Plan (TDP). The GDP is for students participating in general education curricula, the ADP is for students taking the alternate assessment, and the TDP is for students transitioning from school to post-school activities. Each plan includes a comprehensive evaluation of the student’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as a plan for instruction and support.
