The New York Mediators Oath Or Affirmation (Attorney) is an oath or affirmation taken by attorneys who act as mediators in New York State. This oath or affirmation states that the attorney agrees to abide by the applicable rules of professional conduct and all applicable laws, rules and regulations in the practice of mediation. It also states that the attorney will at all times conduct the mediation process in a fair, impartial, and confidential manner, and will strive to provide a fair resolution to the dispute. The New York Mediators Oath Or Affirmation (Attorney) comes in two forms; one is a Statutory Oath, and the other is a Court-Approved Oath. The Statutory Oath is used for mediators who are qualified to serve as mediators under New York State law. The Court-Approved Oath is used for mediators who are court-appointed or have been appointed by the parties to the dispute. Both forms of oath or affirmation contain similar language, and must be taken by the attorney upon becoming a mediator.
