The New York Exemption from the Electronic Public Access Fees — Order provides an exemption from certain electronic public access fees for certain users. This exemption applies to searches for court records or documents, or for other services accessed through the New York State Courts Electronic Filing System (NYSE). The types of users that are eligible for exemption are: 1. Clergy or representatives of religious organizations; 2. Legal Aid Society attorneys; 3. Pro bono attorneys; 4. Attorneys representing indigent defendants; 5. Attorneys representing state and local government entities; and 6. Self-represented litigants. The exemption only applies to searches for court records or documents, and does not apply to other services accessed through NYSE, such as filing fees, or other court fees.
