The Nevada Consent and Waiver of Child is a written agreement between a custodial parent or legal guardian and a non-custodial parent or another person, such as a grandparent, who wishes to have temporary guardianship or legal custody of the child. It is used to grant permission for the temporary transfer of a child's care and legal rights to a third party. There are two types of Nevada Consent and Waiver of Child documents: Full Custody Waiver and Limited Custody Waiver. The Full Custody Waiver grants the third-party full legal custody of the child, meaning that they can make all decisions regarding the child's welfare. The Limited Custody Waiver grants the third-party limited legal custody of the child, meaning that they are able to provide care and make decisions regarding the child's welfare, but are not able to make decisions regarding major life decisions such as education or medical care. The Nevada Consent and Waiver of Child must be signed by the custodial parent or legal guardian as well as the third party who will assume temporary custody of the child. It must also be signed by the child if they are at least 14 years of age. The document must be notarized and filed with the court in order to be legally binding.
