The Mississippi Jury Plan is a system for organizing and conducting jury trials in the courts of the U.S. state of Mississippi. It is a system based on the selection of jurors from a wheel of names created from lists of registered voters maintained by each county. This plan is intended to ensure the selection of juries that are representative of the population of the county in which the trial is held. There are two types of Mississippi Jury Plan: the Original Mississippi Jury Plan and the Revised Mississippi Jury Plan. The Original Mississippi Jury Plan was created in 1925 and is used in all courts in the state except for the Supreme Court. It is a system based on the selection of jurors from jury wheels created from the lists of registered voters in the county. The Revised Mississippi Jury Plan was created in 1964 and is used in the Supreme Court of Mississippi. It is a system based on the selection of jurors from jury wheels created from lists of registered voters as well as lists of persons who have obtained a driver’s license or state identification card.
