The Kentucky Certificate of Official Court Reporter is a certificate issued by the Kentucky Supreme Court to recognize qualified court reporters in the state. The certificate is awarded to court reporters who complete an approved court reporting program, pass a state-approved written and skills test, and obtain a minimum of three years of court reporting experience. There are two types of Kentucky Certificate of Official Court Reporter: Certified Official Court Reporters (COCA) and Registered Official Court Reporters (ROCK). Certified Official Court Reporters must have a minimum of five years of court reporting experience and have completed an approved court reporting program, while Registered Official Court Reporters must have a minimum of three years of court reporting experience and have completed an approved court reporting program. Both types of court reporters must take and pass a state-approved written and skills test in order to receive their certificate.
