The Kentucky Admission or Confession and Waiver of Formal Adjudication Hearing is a type of plea agreement in which a defendant waives their right to a formal trial and pleads guilty to the charge. This type of agreement is used for both status offenses (offenses that only a juvenile can commit, such as curfew violations or truancy) and public offenses (offenses that can be committed by adults, such as theft or assault). The plea agreement requires the defendant to admit or confess to the offense in order to receive a more lenient sentence. Generally, the plea agreement will specify the sentence that the defendant will receive, such as a fine, probation, or community service, in exchange for waiving their right to a trial. There are two types of Kentucky Admission or Confession and Waiver of Formal Adjudication Hearing: status offense and public offense.
