Illinois Income Withholding for Support (TWO) is a mechanism whereby the state enforces court-ordered child support payments by requiring employers to withhold money from the wages of parents who are obligated to pay support. This withholding is then sent directly to the Illinois State Disbursement Unit (SDU), which ensures that payments are distributed to the recipient of the court-ordered support. There are two types of income withholding for support: Immediate Income Withholding and Non-Immediate Income Withholding. Immediate Income Withholding is used for new orders and Non-Immediate Income Withholding is used for existing orders. Both types of withholding involve employers deducting child support payments from their employees’ wages and sending them to the SDU. The SDU then distributes the payments to the recipient of the court-ordered support.
