The Illinois Eviction Summons (COPY) is a court document issued by a landlord or their representative to start the process of evicting a tenant from a rental property. This document, also known as a Complaint for Possession, must be served to the tenant in order to begin the eviction process. There are two types of Illinois Eviction Summons (COPY): one for a tenant holding over after a lease has expired, and one for non-payment of rent. The summons will include the name of the tenant, the address of the rental property, the reason for the eviction, and the amount of rent due. The tenant must appear in court to respond to the summons and can contest the eviction if they wish.
