The Illinois Award of Arbitrators is a formal process used in the state of Illinois to settle disputes outside the court system. It is a form of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) that allows parties to resolve their disputes through a neutral third-party arbitrator. The award of the arbitrator is legally binding and usually can only be appealed if the arbitrator exceeded their authority or acted in an arbitrary manner. There are two main types of Illinois Award of Arbitrators: binding and nonbinding. Binding arbitration are more formal and involve both parties coming to an agreement on the outcome of the dispute. Nonbinding arbitration are less formal and do not require an agreement on the outcome. In either case, the arbitrator's decision is legally binding and the parties are expected to abide by it.
